The London Company Announces the Appointment of Stephen C. Owen, CFA, as its next Chief Executive Officer
The London Company of Virginia LLC is very pleased to announce the next step in its evolution with the appointment of Stephen C. Owen, CFA as its next Chief Executive Officer. Founder and current Chief Executive Officer/Chief Investment Officer Steve Goddard will remain Chairman/CIO and continue to lead the firm’s investment team.
Steve Goddard reflected on this landmark announcement: “Having just passed the 25 year milestone for the firm, we have been very focused on building upon our history and preparing for the next 25 years. We knew that the skillset required to step into this role would be demanding, and after a thoughtful search process concluded that Steve Owen would be the right person to successfully fulfill that challenge. Steve brings us a unique blend of perspective on the business side, along with a deep familiarity and knowledge of our firm, our investment process, and our culture. Over time, he has forged strong, effective relationships and developed a special rapport with our team which will allow him to transition seamlessly into his new role. Steve has my utmost confidence that leadership is being placed in good hands.”
When asked about his decision to join The London Company, Steve had this to say: “Since I began working with The London Company in 2009, I have always admired their unique ability to invest with an owner’s mindset, while focusing on the balance sheet and downside protection. When the opportunity arose to discuss the next generation of leadership at their firm, I was beyond thrilled to be considered for this role and to assist in leading The London Company going forward. Steve Owen comes to The London Company from Touchstone Investments, where he held a progression of roles with increasing leadership responsibilities, most recently serving as the Managing Director, Head of Institutional Business Development. Steve’s distinguished career at Touchstone spanned over 13 years, over a decade of which he worked directly with The London Company. He holds a B.S in Civil/Environmental Engineering from The Ohio State University, as well as a MBA-Finance from Xavier University. Steve is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder, and holds multiple licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). Steve Owen is expected to join The London Company in early May.
